Want to disable whatsApp’s protected images in camera rolls? That’s how
Navigate to Settings > Storage and Data. Within the segment labeled “Media Auto-Download,” locate and tap on “Photos,” then opt for the “Never” selection
WhatsApp is designed to automatically save every image it receives in chat to your iPhone’s camera roll. While it makes it easier to access images in your main photo library, it can also start taking up a lot of space on your device.
If you don’t want the app to save those photos to your camera roll, you can disable WhatsApp’s photosaving feature with just a few tapes.
In this article, we’ll show you step-by-step how to prevent WhatsApp from adding images to your camera roll on the iPhone. It only takes a minute to change this setting and prevent WhatsApp from entering your main photo gallery.
We will cover eliminating automedia savings in individual chats and WhatsApp settings globally. Doing so will keep photos, videos, GIFs and any other media received in WhatsApp messages within the app, keeping your chat photos intact.
A quick note before you get started: Keep in mind though that even after stopping images stored in a camera roll, media still causes an increase in WhatsApp data. But you won’t effectively double the storage of these images.
How to disable WhatsApp’s protected images in camera rolls
We’ve covered the steps below on the iPhone, but they should be more or less the same on other devices.
1. Open WhatsApp and tap Settings
2. Tap Chats
4. Save in Camera Roll Close Toggle
Toggle Save in Camera Roll, which will prevent all media from being saved automatically to your camera roll.
And that’s it! It’s very easy, isn’t it? One button can save you hundreds of gigabytes of storage – trust me I know!
